Eddie Francis, In Song and Conversation
The Station was filled to capacity Sunday, August 17, 2025 as Ottawa Valley Country Hall of Fame, 2024 inductee Eddie Francis told his story through song. His original works had the audience toe tapping and fully engaged. After his performance, conversation and refreshments were enjoyed by all. Eddie Francis in song and conversation will be available on the Opeongo Line Podcast.
“Meet me at the Station II”
Playwright Mark Woermke’s “Meet me at the Station” came to life Sunday, July 20,2025 at the Barry’s Bay Railway Station. Historical fiction based on actual people who worked and lived in and around the railway in 1944, the play was presented by Opeongo Readers Theatre Players and will be available as a Podcast on the Opeongo Line. The seats in the Station were full and laughter and applause was a’plenty.
Mayor’s award for volunteerism
The StationKeepers MV received the 2024 Township of Madawaska Mayor’s award for volunteerism on June 17, 2025. The award was presented on behalf of the late Mayor Mark Willmer by his partner, Janet Adams and current Mayor David Shulist.
